The Foundation Learning Tier

This is the OCNW Foundation Learning Tier home page. In this section of our website you can find out a range of information on this strategy, as well as how we at OCNW are responding to it.

Overview

The Foundation Learning Tier (FLT) is a programme of work that is being led in partnership by the Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). The project aims to bring new purpose and focus to all learning and qualifications below Level 2.

OCNW has long been a key player in qualifications at this level and as such has been proactively involved in FLT developments. In the initial stages we carried out QCA sponsored research to examine how well our existing provision meets the requirements of the Foundation Learning Tier Strategy. More recently we have begun the process of taking this work to the next stage by acting on outcomes of our research to ensure our provision is aligned with national policy and eligible for government funding.
