Target Group This qualification is aimed at those learners with numeracy skills below Level 1, who wish to improve their numeracy skills in order that they can progress to Level 1 numeracy qualifications.
Summary

The

The OCNW Certificate in Adult Numeracy at Entry 1, 2 and 3 is an ideal qualification for adults wishing to develop basic numeracy skills. It is based on the National Standards for Adult Numeracy and has several features to make it appropriate to its target learners:

 

Unit Certification is available for each of the units

Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres

External Assessments can be taken within a centre as and when the learner is ready to take the assessment

Evidence can be generated within a wide range of contexts enabling tutors to designa course appropriate to the needs and interests of the learners
Assessment

In

The Number Unit and the Handling Data Unit is assessed through external assessment and  the Measures, Shape & Space Unit is assessed through internal assessment. OCNW devised external assessments are available for Units 1 and 3. These are made up of short answer questions and tasks that must be completed under supervised conditions. They can be completed at a time as and when the learner is ready to take the assessment. These assessments must be stored in centres under secure conditions.

 

Internal and external moderation are a requirement for both the internally and externally assessed components of the full award.
