Summary

The OCNW Certificate in ICT (Skills for Life) at Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 is an ideal qualification to provide learners with basic knowledge, skills and understanding in ICT to include using an ICT system, presenting information and finding and exchanging information.

This qualification is aimed at adult learners who have little or no experience in using ICT.  There are several features of this qualification that make it very appropriate for these learners:

Mapped directly from the DfES Standards for Adult ICT Skills.

Units are written so that they allow the learner to work with a range of hardware and software applications to meet the needs and interests of the learners.

Evidence can be generated in a wide range of contexts enabling tutors to design a course appropriate to the needs and interests of the learners.

Unit Certification is available for each of the units.

Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres.

Assessment

Tutors must ensure that in putting together a portfolio for Unit 1 and in completing the tasks for Units 2 and 3 the learners’ evidence must cover all the assessment criteria, at a particular level for the unit.

All learners’ evidence is marked by tutors/assessors. Internal and external moderation are a requirement for all the units within the qualification.
