This qualification is excellent as an introductory course and provides a direct progression route to the OCNW Certificate in Craft and Design at Level 1.

There are several features of this qualification that make it very appropriate for its target learners:

§         The skills in craft processes can be gained in a wide range of endorsed craft areas allowing the qualification to meet the specific interests and needs of the learners.

§         Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres.

§         Unit certification is available for either of the units.

Assessment

All units are assessed internally through the building up of a portfolio of evidence.

To achieve a unit certificate all assessment criteria within the specification must be achieved. For the full award both of the units must be achieved.

Internal and external moderation are a requirement for both units making up the full award.
