| Summary |
The OCNW Entry Level Certificate in ESOL for Work is designed as a short, flexible programme to meet English Language needs of migrant workers intending to work or working in the United Kingdom. The qualification focuses on the language skills required to work in an English-speaking environment, placing a particular emphasis on spoken communication and reading. As a consequence of this, the learner may achieve the Writing unit one level lower than the Speaking & Listening and Reading units and still be certificated at the higher level overall. |
| Assessment |
Each unit is assessed through an externally set task written by and provided by OCNW, and must be stored in centres under secure conditions. They include a mark scheme that assessors must use to mark the learner’s performance. These are internally moderated within the centre, and then subject to external moderation by OCNW. Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres. |
