Summary

During the course of study the students will acquire the following knowledge, understanding and skills.  They need to be able to:

 

§       Identify a typical security threat

§       Identify a typical hijacking and and/or threat scenario

§       Identify how security personnel work with aircrew and their responses

§       Identify the typical objectives and procedures of the Police in a aviation security situation

§       Identify the typical emergency procedures required

§       Identify the typical key way to handle the media in an aviation security situation

§       Identify a typical post event de-briefing

§       Identify an example of security in own area of responsibility

§       Understand the basics of how to assess bomb warnings

§       Understand the basics of how to check/search an aircraft on the ground

§       Understand how to check the basic procedure for passengers and their luggage on the ground in the airport terminal

§       Understand how to recognise an example of a firearm or explosives or an incendiary device

§       Consider how to carry out a basic but effective personal search for an airline passenger

§      Understand how basic counter measures are implemented.

Assessment Completion of a portfolio of evidence.
