To promote the development of the literacy skills required for all level 1 and level 2 programmes of the NQF including the literacy skills and techniques required for the Key Skills Communication unit at Level 1 and 2 and for the Improving Own Learning and Performance Unit at Level 1 and level 2.
to encourage the development of transferable skills in literacy to tasks of direct relevance to candidate experience and vocational or academic goals
to provide a benchmark for learners and teachers to map both the level and breadth of progress so as to concentrate more closely on those skills where development is required
The certificate has one externally assessed component:
