To promote access in achievement of the National Standards for Adult Numeracy thus providing a clear benchmark of progress and achievement in Numeracy terms set against the national standards.
To promote their developments of the numeracy skills required for all Level 1 and Level 2 programmes of the NQF including the numeracy skills and techniques required for the keyskills application of Number unit at Level 1 and for improving Own Learning and Performance unit at Level 1 & 2.
To encourage the develpment of transferable skills in numeracy based upon practical application to tasks of direct relevance to candidate experience and vocational or academic goals.
To provide a clear benchmark of progress in numeracy terms set against the national standards so as to concentrate more closely on those skills where development is required.
The certificate has one externally assessed component:
A nationally devised test, administered by OCNW in Numeracy at level 2.
The test will be issued to centres who have registered students and is to be administered according to OCNW procedures on specified national testing dates.
