Target Group This qualification is aimed at those learners who are in any role where they may be responsible for the health and safety of other individuals. These individuals being supervised may be employees in the workplace but could include other groups of individuals such as voluntary workers, students or pupils. The qualification is relevant across all industry sectors.
Summary

Employers are increasingly concerned about the health, safety and welfare of employees which is a key workplace issue. There are an increasing number of legal obligations placed on employers in relation to health, safety and welfare issues. Many of these obligations are met on a daily basis through the work of supervisors, team leaders and managers.  This OCNW qualification provides learners with knowledge, skills and understanding that they can practically apply to effectively supervise health, safety and welfare in workplace situations.

 

There are several features of this qualification that make it very appropriate for its target learners:

 

§         Unit certification is available for each of the units

§         Moderation and certification can be offered throughout the year, allowing maximum flexibility for centres

§         Can be delivered either as a classroom-based course or as a blended learning programme

§         Evidence can be generated within a wide range of organisational contexts allowing the qualification  to meet the specific occupational requirements of the learners

Assessment

In order to achieve the award, learners must complete internally set and marked assessments which meet the OCNW guidelines and are externally validated and moderated by OCNW in accordance with its quality audit procedures.

 

To gain a unit certificate all assessment criteria within the “What you need to do” section of the unit must be achieved. For the full award, learners must satisfy all the criteria for both units.  Internal and external moderation by OCNW are a requirement of the full award.
