Target Group This qualification is aimed at young people ages 14 and over who are in learning environments or in preparation for work experience and beginning employment. It may also be suitable for adults who require a basic awareness of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Summary

Faced with an excess of information on food, health and diet , some of which is sensationalist, there is a clear need for basic, straightforward information.

The qualification introduces basic healthy living issues and will raise the learner's awareness of adopting a healthy lifestyle and the importance of activity and exercise.

Assessment

Assessment is by internally set and marked assessments which are internally moderated, then externally moderated by OCNW. Tasks set should cover all the relevant assessment criteria. It is advised that the criteria on which an assessment is based are clearly indicated in the assignment to:

(a) Ensure learners can clearly see the purpose and expected outcome of the task

(b) To ensure that all criteria are clearly covered

A portfolio of evidence should demonstrate that all assessment requirements have been met. Examples of evidence that could be included are:

Multiple choice and short answer questions

Observation of discussions or presentations

Learner completion of worksheets or workbooks

Records of questions or discussions
